London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association after he appeared to stomp on Liverpools Emre Can in a Capital One Cup match at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday. The incident occurred in the 12th minute of the contest, which was eventually won 1-0 by Chelsea, and it was not spotted by referee Michael Oliver. However, the FA was aware of the incident and has decided to charge Costa with violent conduct. Costa is facing the prospect of a three-match ban if he is found guilty, and that would rule him out of Chelseas showdown against Manchester City on Saturday as well as fixtures against Everton and Aston Villa.
